Major upgrade works this Easter

We strongly recommend you travel either side of the Easter weekend (15 – 18 April). If you need to travel make a reservation, plan ahead, and check before travelling.

Over Easter (Friday 15 – Monday 18 April), Network Rail will be carrying out major upgrade works on sections of the West Coast Main Line between London Euston and Scotland.

As a result, there’ll be no trains to/from London Euston, some journeys will take longer and may involve a rail replacement service.

What engineering works are there and when are they?

Between Friday 15 – Monday 18 April (inclusive), Network Rail are upgrading sections of the West Coast Main Line:

  • From Friday 15 – Monday 18 April (inclusive) the line between London Euston and Milton Keynes will be closed due to track and signal upgrades. Bridge work near to Euston station is also taking place.
  • On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April the line between Coventry and Birmingham International will be closed.
  • On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April railway drainage, track and signal improvements will be carried out between Crewe and Warrington.
  • On Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 April track upgrades will be carried out between Carlisle and Scotland.
