Summer engineering works

Major upgrades this summer will improve the West Coast Main Line. This work will make future journeys more reliable and ease pressure by adding more capacity.

From 17 July – 31 August
Lines into Euston will be affected. Most services will run, but there will be some timetable and platform changes, resulting in longer journey times.

August Bank Holiday weekend (28-30 Aug)
£17m of investment takes place over the bank holiday right along the main line. Stations and services between London and Scotland may be busier, with services changing, taking longer and with some bus replacement services.

Saturday 28 to Monday 30 August inclusive
Buses replace trains between:
• Newton-le-Willows and Warrington Central/Widnes
• Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central
• Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street
• Warrington Central and Newton-le-Willows

Saturday 28 August
Buses replace trains between:
• Coleshill Parkway and Birmingham New Street

Sun 29 August 
Buses replace trains between:
• Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent
• Wilmslow and Macclesfield
• Wilmslow-Macclesfield-Stoke-Stafford
• Nuneaton and Birmingham via Coleshill Parkway
• Birmingham New Street and Nuneaton/Tamworth
• Rugby and Northampton

Monday 30 August
Buses replace trains between:
• Coleshill Parkway and Birmingham New Street

Saturday 4 – Sunday 5 September
Work near Euston will reduce capacity on the lines. Most services will run, but there will be some timetable and platform changes, resulting in longer journey times.
